El Mercado – 413 Main Street, Holyoke, MA

6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

OneHolyoke CDC & Nueva Esperanza will jointly announce the release of the Holyoke Participatory Asset Mapping (PAM) Survey On Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at El Mercado, 413 Main Street, Holyoke, MA. The event is open to the public and will begin at 6 pm.

In 2016, nearly 1000 Holyoke residents participated in a detailed survey measuring a wide array of quality of life issues.  The responses were then collated at the University of Massachusetts under the direction of Dr. Flavia Montenegro-Menezes.   Eleven additional community organizations assisted with the outreach, and funding for the project was provided by UMASS Public Service Endowment Grant.  The report will be formally released at the event, but can be accessed in digital format in advance at this link: http://holyoke.creativecommunityweb.org/survey-results/ .

“This is a valuable gift to the community” said Michael Moriarty, Executive Director of OneHolyoke CDC, “which will provide guidance to our community development corporation and many other city agencies.  It depends our understanding of what people experience in their neighborhood and the needs we have to address.  The information provides a detailed ward level snapshot of the positive and negative perceptions of Holyoke by it’s  residents.  It builds upon the Holyoke Cultural Asset Mapping project, completed with the support of the UMASS President’s Office Creative Economy Initiative in 2015.

Presenters:  Ms. Flavia Montenegro-Menezes, Michael Moriarty & Nelson Roman

There will be light refreshments and a reception following the brief program.  Copies of the survey will be on hand.
